The Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Association (AMD) was founded in 2006 by companies manufacturing packaging machinery and packaging-related complementary machinery. The purpose of the Association is to help packaging machinery manufacturers improve themselves and their processing machinery both in Turkey and abroad and align their manufacturing processes with the applicable international standards, to promote these manufacturers in international markets to help them gain competitive strength and to take action on any platform in an effort to find solutions for challenges the industry faces.

Though the Association does not have a long history, it is growing fast welcoming new members with every passing day. Examining every membership application meticulously, the Association has a vision of bringing together packaging manufacturers that have high ethical values and manufacture high-quality packaging machinery and represents particularly those meeting these criteria. In both Turkey and the rest of the world, packaging consumption increases in line with the improvement in the level of development, resulting in higher demand for and growth in the manufacturing of packaging machinery. Having cut down their costs and offering machinery at lower prices, compared with the prices in recent years, due both to the intensifying competition across the world and, in particular, the economic slowdown in Europe, packaging manufacturers abroad have adopted more aggressive sales policies, and I believe this will lead Turkish companies to focus more on productivity and to adopt a more professional approach to operations.

In fact, we think that, rather than wishing to see an increase in the number of manufacturers in the industry, those manufacturers that can improve efficiency and invest in quality improvement and innovation projects will be able to expand their market shares, and that those that are inefficient and manufacturing low quality machinery lacking sufficient technology will lose in competition and fall off the market soon.
