Buyers from German companies can get in direct contact with over 200 qualified Indian suppliers in digital B2B meetings organized by BME during the 2nd edition of the online format from 11 to 29 August 2025.
The initiative is organized by the Association for Supply Chain Management, Procurement and Logistics (BME) in close cooperation with the German Chambers of Commerce Abroad (AHKs) and the East Asian Association (OAV). The aim is to provide companies from all sectors with a comprehensive market overview of India as a procurement region.
B2B matchmaking event: Establishing tailor-made business relationships
At the heart of the event are digital B2B matchmaking meetings, similar to last year's premiere. The initiative, which is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE), offers participating companies direct access to a comparatively under-researched but promising procurement market and brings German buyers together with suitable business partners (including from the areas of production materials, drawing parts and IT) in a targeted manner.
Interested buyers can now register free of charge on the www.bmematchmaking.com platform and select preferred business partners from over 200 detailed supplier profiles available on the platform.
Why India? A look at the economic potential
The Indian procurement market is complex and highly fragmented. It has great potential, but at the same time confronts purchasing companies with challenges that should not be underestimated. Taking into account the available capacities, Indian suppliers can increasingly be used as a de-risking alternative to China.
India is currently in 24th place in the ranking of German export destinations. With economic growth of 7 percent forecast for 2024/2025, India is one of the locomotives of the global economy, especially as India's exports are expected to reach the 445 billion euro mark according to expert estimates.
However, according to the members of the BME network group "Global Sourcing", which is led by Lisa Immensack, Senior Project Manager at BME, India also has its specific characteristics. The buyers in the BME network report that the Indian procurement market is not comparable to China and requires more support compared to other sourcing regions.
Against this backdrop, the 2nd Purchasing Initiative India is building a resilient bridge between procurement decision-makers and suppliers. "We not only organize B2B meetings for all interested buyers, but also offer additional services such as the free download of our BME Sourcing Spotlight India from February 2025 as accompanying measures," reports Lisa Immensack. In this webinar, experienced purchasing practitioners and experts from AHK India presented the local supplier landscape transparently, made their experiences tangible and shared them with interested parties.
At the end of the process, there is a direct exchange between the purchasing companies and the suppliers via online B2B meetings. Thanks to the BME project platform, the purchasing department has complete insight into the skills, capacities and experience of the suppliers right from the start. As part of the purchasing initiative, German buyers only meet partners who also meet their requirements. "Procurement experts are in control of when and who they meet online, free of charge - BME and AHK take care of all the organization," explains Lisa Immensack.
Conclusion: If you want to get to know the Indian procurement market better, the sourcing initiative organized by BME and its partners provides efficient, product group-specific access.
